The Vicious Rap Cycle

50cent the gangsta
50 The Gangsta
The more I think about it the more I am saddened at the cycle of a rap artist.  Regardless of roots the greatest of all time come up from nothing.  They have that street edge, are broke as fuck, are raw.  Take Juvinille's "HA".  A classic.  It's just him.  Honest.  He's broke as fuck, no real bling, walking around in a wife beater.  Edgy.  Or what about 50.  I don't give a crap what you think.  If you don't believe his "In da club" album was at least decent if not great ("many men'!!) then you're an idiot.

Sure he had a little more capital than Juvenile but the shit is still full of energy.  It makes you feel a certain way.  It makes you want to get up and do something.

It's all because these guys are coming up and have that struggle in their lives.  They have that grime, the dirt, still inside.  They have all that energy to tap into.  Then what happens?  They become somewhat successful and start making loot.  They make it.  They buy their big houses and their big cars and start running around in a shit lot of jewelry and fur coats.

50 Not So Gangsta

And then the transition begins.  See, it's my opinion that no matter how hard you try to connect with the "streets", with their upbringing, after success, you just can't keep the relationship up.  You're ballin now.  It's not the same anymore.  We all like "paying the bills when the bills due" but after a while of doing it you don't really worry about it anymore.  After a while you don't even give a shit about the bills.  You start to drift away.  I'm happy for all the ones who made it.  But as a guy who likes rap, it's sad to see the music stop.

Once these dudes are ballin they simply don't have the same problems anymore.  They loose touch with the struggle.  Once you are financially set what do you have to struggle with anymore?  Next is enjoying life and your career.  Inevitably, gay ass dance music follows.  Not that there's anything wrong with dancing, its just not rap.

Juvenille went and made a bunch of happy club music.  50, the same, only gayer.  And lately, from what heard on the radio earlier, T.I.might be heading down the same road.  "No,  NOT T.I.!!!".

Yes, T.I.

I only heard one and immediately said to myself "what the fuck".   I'm sad that T.I. may be done bringing it.

I hope It was just one song.  I hope Im just blowing shit out of proportion.  I hope so.  If not, it'll be hard letting another great one sink into success.

For the sake of my entertainment; fuck the club.

I agree. Jay -Z is a homo. He's just like 50. If it werent' for DRE's bomb ass beats 50 nor eminem would be anywhere. Shit, with the right beat even I could rap. There's a difference though. Between raping and just talking and having bitches dance. If you don't know...then know you know..................................................................................................................nigga.!
